The mission of the DC Asthma Partnership, a public-private collaborative, is to prevent and reduce asthma morbidity and mortality to improve the quality of life for residents of the District of Columbia.

DCAP Positions:

DC Asthma Partnership (DCAP)

Description of DCAP Leadership and Roles

The DCAP voluntary roles that are needed to provide leadership in the implementation of the mission of the Partnership are: Chair, Vice-Chair, and four Workgroup leaders. The following voluntary roles are identified as essential to maintaining and sustaining DCAP, including, but not limited to, ensuring that the mission statement of the Partnership is carried out among the partners.

Position:        Chair                                                                                        

Time Commitment:   20 hours or less (2 hours or less per month)

Term:              One-year

Description:  The Chair shall perform the following roles and duties of the Partnership:

  • Chairs and facilitates all meetings of the  general Partnership
  • Provides guidance on the development of meeting agendas
  • Serves as spokesperson for Partnership positions and actions
  • Appoints Ad-Hoc Workgroup Leaders as necessary

 Position:          Vice-Chair                  

Time Commitment:  15 hours or less (Less than 2 hours per month)

Term:              One-year

Description:  The Vice-Chair shall perform the duties of the chair in the event the chair                              cannot be available for the designated activity.

  • Presides at meetings in the absence of the Chair
  • Assists the Chair to provide guidance and leadership to the Partnership

 Position:          Workgroup Leader                

Time Commitment:  10 hours or less (2 hours per month)

Term:              One-year

Description:     The Workgroup Leader shall perform the following roles and duties of the designated workgroup:

  • Facilitates two workgroup meetings
  • Provides guidance on development of the meeting agendas
  • Directs workgroup members in the implementation of the strategies and action steps outlined in the workplan
  • Provides information to the fiscal agency on the actions of the workgroup to effectively report information to the general Partnership

 Four Honorary Chair Persons to serve as advisors to the four workgroups 2 hours per month.
